CONFOTOGRAFIA AT KUNSTHISTORISHES INSTITUT IN FLORENZ

Confotografia is running in different places. The workshop is at Kunsthistorisches Institut in Florenz.
I have had the pleasure to be part of this project as photographer and I have realized in this occasion the specific project “Normale”.
Confotografia. Methods and practices of interaction in the territory. L’Aquila 2013
Alessandra Chemollo, Antonio Di Cecco, Roberto Sartor
What happened to the territory of Aquila following the earthquake of 2009?
What images can help to tell the tale?

Confotografia proposes an experimental method of investigation based on the exchange of knowledge between photographers and citizens. The goal is to enable a process of observation of the territory – a strong method – which would assist the city, providing the elements to look at it with different eyes.
In September of 2013, in L’Aquila, about 50 photographers, different ages and with different narrative approaches, have been working for six days in close contact with each other and with citizens, associations, committees, students. They talked about photography and territory, photographed together what L’Aquila has become, to understand how we can represent what has happened.
Alessandra Chemollo, Antonio Di Cecco and Roberto Sartor present and discuss with the audience the project, the experience and the first results of Confotografia: an exhibition consisting of 80 posters that combine images and text, a series of photographic prints, some notebooks produced by photographers and a sound file. All the wealth of materials will be delivered to the city of L’Aquila, so that it can become the starting point for a process of observation and documentation of the great transformations that the territory of L’Aquila is experiencing.
The meeting is part of the activities promoted by the research group of KHI L’Aquila as a Post-Catastrophic City.

FILMMAKERFEST SCREENING OF THE FILM “CAPITAL”

FILMMAKERFEST, Spazio Oberdan 7th December 2014, Milan

I have had the pleasure to realize a film in collaboration with Lida Perin.
The film was selected to be screened in the Filmmakerfest festival in Milan.

“What do we really know about water?
Its background noise is a constant companion of our daily lives. We end up so accustomed to it, that it becomes invisible.
Yet, some people work with water, with how we drink, what we drink, with the way water runs in our cities. Who are they? And what economics are concealed behind water?”

SI FEST CONFOTOGRAFIA

Confotografia is at SI FEST.
Four years after the earthquake that, on the 6th of April 2009, destroyed L’Aquila and its surroundings,
CONFOTOGRAFIA proposed to test a new method of photographic survey based on the exchange of experiences
and knowledge between photographers and inhabitants.
More than fifty photographers, between 20th and 26th September 2013, were hosted in a Artist-In-Residence
workshop in L’Aquila.
This involved a first shared survey and a seminary with various experts. Besides, every photographer was supported
by local people acting as a “guide”, willing to share their knowledge and their way of living with the photographer.
CONFOTOGRAFIA was created as a need for stimulating a debate among photographers eager to start a collective
process to observe the landscape, which could be useful to the people of the city to see – and rethink – L’Aquila in a
new way.
