Confotografia is at SI FEST.
Four years after the earthquake that, on the 6th of April 2009, destroyed L’Aquila and its surroundings,
CONFOTOGRAFIA proposed to test a new method of photographic survey based on the exchange of experiences and knowledge between photographers and inhabitants. More than fifty photographers, between 20th and 26th September 2013, were hosted in a Artist-In-Residence workshop in L’Aquila.
This involved a first shared survey and a seminary with various experts. Besides, every photographer was supported by local people acting as a “guide”, willing to share their knowledge and their way of living with the photographer. CONFOTOGRAFIA was created as a need for stimulating a debate among photographers eager to start a collective process to observe the landscape, which could be useful to the people of the city to see – and rethink – L’Aquila in a new way.
