SI FEST CONFOTOGRAFIA

Group Exhibition.
Confotografia is at SI FEST.
Four years after the earthquake that, on the 6th of April 2009, destroyed L’Aquila and its surroundings,
CONFOTOGRAFIA proposed to test a new method of photographic survey based on the exchange of experiences and knowledge between photographers and inhabitants. More than fifty photographers, between 20th and 26th September 2013, were hosted in a Artist-In-Residence workshop in L’Aquila.
This involved a first shared survey and a seminary with various experts. Besides, every photographer was supported by local people acting as a “guide”, willing to share their knowledge and their way of living with the photographer. CONFOTOGRAFIA was created as a need for stimulating a debate among photographers eager to start a collective process to observe the landscape, which could be useful to the people of the city to see – and rethink – L’Aquila in a new way.

AQUILA CONFOTOGRAFIA

Art residence with photographic project “Normale”.
Confotografia proposes an experimental method of investigation based on the exchange of knowledge between photographers and citizens. The goal is to activate a process of observation of the territory – a strong method – which would assist the city by providing the elements to look at it with different eyes. About 50 photographers of different ages and with different narrative approaches have worked for six days in close contact with each other and with citizens, associations, with the committees, with the students. They talked about photography and territory, photographed together what L’Aquila has become, to understand how we can represent what has happened.

LOOSE ENDS BY MARIA GIUSEPPINA GRASSO CANNIZZO AT AUT

Collaboration with “Loose Ends”.

Film and photos that mixing the complex intervention of a thinker space with human interaction.
Maria Giuseppina Grasso Cannizzo has produced an exhibition that is a radical intervention and complex transformation of the aut’s spaces and brings to light her attitude to architecture. Inspired by Sicilian industrial landscapes with oil tanks, drilling rigs and hauling plants and taking into account the spatial characteristics of the aut, she develops a unique universe within which the visitors senses are addressed directly by hearing, smelling and seeing. Simultaneously the exhibition offers insights into the design process of this unique Sicilian architect’s work – reaching from her source of inspiration over design methods to the finished projects.
